Aluminum heat sinks have high thermal conductivity (approximately 237 W/(m·K)), weigh only about one-third of a copper heat sink of the same volume, and are less expensive. After anodizing and other surface treatments, they exhibit good corrosion resistance. However, the oxide film on the surface of virgin aluminum is relatively thin, requiring further surface treatment to improve oxidation resistance under long-term high-temperature or humid environments. Overall, their heat dissipation stability is suitable for low- to medium-power heat sources.
Common types: Aluminum finned heat sinks, extruded aluminum heat sinks, die-cast aluminum heat sinks, plug-in aluminum heat sinks.
Widely used in consumer electronics (computers, mobile phone chargers, LED lighting), automotive industry (engine cooling systems, vehicle electronic heat dissipation), home appliances (air conditioner outdoor units, refrigerator condensers), industrial equipment (inverters, distribution cabinets, photovoltaic inverters), etc., especially suitable for applications sensitive to weight and cost with moderate heat dissipation requirements.
Manufacturing Process
First, aluminum ingots are melted and then processed into core components such as substrates and fins through extrusion, die casting, or stamping processes. Next, surface treatments such as anodizing (forming a dense oxide film) and electrophoretic coating (improving corrosion resistance and aesthetics) are applied. Finally, the components are assembled using welding, insertion, or snap-fit connections. Some high-end products also undergo surface sandblasting and wire drawing to balance performance and appearance.
When selecting aluminum radiators, consider the following advantages:
Typically, aluminum ranks among the most cost-effective metallic materials for radiator manufacturing.Furthermore, aluminum is lightweight and ductile, facilitating easy shaping into various forms. You can freely apply any color or texture to aluminum radiators based on application requirements. You can even develop unique or custom coatings to perfectly match specific needs. Moreover, with its convenient prototyping characteristics, the same aluminum radiator design can be easily replicated in bulk production. There's no need to repeatedly design new solutions—a single prototype design can be effortlessly mass-produced.
